refinishing clawfoot tub

Refinishing a clawfoot bathtub is a little more intensive then you think. Simply moving it and turning it for cleaning and preparing is next to impossible to do by yourself. Sand Blasting the exterior is the first thing that needs to be done. After Blasting the exterior treat it with a product called OSPHO. This will convert the exterior rust to a primer black glaze.Killing the rust is important. After Ospho- Wash the exterior with baking soda and water to neutralize the acidic residue of the Ospho. Wipe dry and prime using a rust killing primer. Since you are a due it yourselfer I would use a heavy nap 6 inch roller. Turn the tub upside down over a heavy blanket to prevent chipping, and mashing of fingers. For more information please visit our site at http://www.newkote.com
